Who Is Jesus?

Whos is Jesus Christ?

Most people are familiar with Jesus Christ in some way. Some think of him as as a historical figure, a role model of how to be a nice guy, or maybe even a man hanging on a cross. But who is He really? When Jesus was on earth He made it a point to be relevant and connect with people where they were.

The biggest complaint made against him was that He was not religious enough. Most of His closest friends were fishermen (not the most prominent of people); He loved spending time with children (not much glory in the admiration of a child) and was often found hanging out in the homes of the publicly despised (prostitutes and tax collectors weren’t too popular back in those days either). Jesus loved people no matter what their status or what they offered Him in return.

Jesus still loves people who are full of problems and sins. He said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.” (John 11:25 NLT)

John 3:16-17 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:16-17 NLT)

Romans 6:23 puts our problem of sin this way… “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”

The Good News

First, it is appointed unto man once to die and then the judgement.

Second, we have all sinned and separated ourselves from God.

Third, God demonstrated His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Jesus is our perfect sacrifice, and He is the only way to be saved from experiencing the wrath of God in Hell for all eternity.

Fourth, those who want to be forgiven of their sins and live forever with God in heaven, must believe that what Jesus did was good enough to pay their penalty. By placing your faith in Jesus and trusting him with your life, you are making Jesus the leader of your life (Lord) and the forgiver of all your sin (Savior).

Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (MSG)
